BIRTHDAY FROWNS Ethan and Avery Overton were not happy about spending their birthday at TroyFest. They wanated to go swimming and mom Holly finally relented.
A good communication system is the core of emergency response services, allowing various agencies to quickly respond to incidents and communicate with each other on scene. Changes in federal regulations, brought about by communication problems during the terrorist attacks at New York’s Twin Towers on 9-11 and Gulf Coast hurricanes, mean that Montgomery County emergency agencies will have to either upgrade their current communication systems or switch to another system.
Virginia Brower went to work in the hosiery mills after graduating from high school in 1965. When her last place of employment, Charleston Hosiery in Biscoe, shut down several years ago, she used the opportunity to go back to school, earning an associate degree in human services technology from MCC in 2008.
Last year the Montgomery All-Stars burst on the scene in Dixie Softball, winning four out of five District 4 championships and finishing runner-up in the fifth tourney. The local teams continued their success in the Dixie Softball state tournament with the Darlings (age 8-unde) winning their division, gaining a berth in the World Series held Louisiana.
