There is a "major water line break" on N.C. Highway 211 near the interstate, in Candor, according to county manager Matthew Woodard. The extent of the damage is not known at this time.
Woodard said the line will have to be uncovered to learn the extent of the break. He went on to state, The location of the break isolated our tank and Candor's, which will mean no water for the south east quadrant of the county." He went on to explain, "Normally we could back feed from Pekin to supply Candor but the Little River line was lost last year during the hurricane and is still a FEMA project that is under repair."
That area of the county could be without water for 4 hours to 12 hours depending on the extent of the damage, which was caused by a telephone contractor hitting a major transmission line.
