A third defendant in the Dec. 31, 2015 murder of Joe Shuping has been sentenced to prison. Jose Lara pled guilty on Friday to second-degree murder, three counts of first degree kidnapping, three counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon. He was sentenced to a minimum of 24 years and a maximum of 33.5 years in prison.

Two other co-defendants, Glenn Hogan and Reuben Gonzalez, are already serving time in the death of Shuping. The trial of Hogan lasted three weeks. In the end jurors quickly returned a verdict of guilty on all counts including a first-degree murder charge. He was sentenced to life without parole plus additional time on all the other charges to be served following the life sentence. This sentence ensures Hogan will spend the rest of his life in jail. Hogan, who is believed to be the ringleader, has appealed the verdict.
