An employee of McBride Lumber Company in Star shot three of his four co-workers this morning shortly after the plant opened. The shooter, Ronald Dean Davis, 50, of nearby Ether, was found at his residence with a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Law enforcement officers from Star and Candor as well as the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
Three are confirmed dead, one of them being the shooter’s cousin and two other males. A fourth was shot in the chest and was airlifted. Reports indicate that he is in critical care after undergoing surgery.
The shooter was alive when officers entered his residence and he was airlifted as well. He is also listed in critical condition.
There are multiple witnesses to the shooting and officers are still on scene interviewing them. Sheriff Dempsey Owens will hold a press conference at 2 p.m.
No motive has been determined as of yet. Officers do believe they have located the weapon used in the shootings. The weapon was located in the shooter’s residence.
