Montgomery County Board of Education members agreed, again, to keep only the state and state runner up team championship trophies from East and West Montgomery to display at the new Montgomery Central High School. The other team and individual trophies are up for grabs. The awards include academic as well as athletic; however, there are only a handful of academic awards. The awards date back as far as 1962, the year of the first graduating classes.

The board had agreed several months back that they understood it was not possible to keep all awards, which add up to several hundred awards, yet they did not wish to destroy the items should someone be interested in them. Several individuals at both schools worked on gathering these items as well as the old uniforms, which have already been offered to the public.
