East Montgomery Volleyball Coach Julius Ryan has been charged with taking indecent liberities with a child following an allegation by a student and member of the volleyball team that he kissed her. The charges were filed on Friday following an investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, which began on Tuesday.
In a press release from the Sheriff’s Office dated Sept. 21 it says that Ryan had been sending the girl messages via an instant messaging that were not sexual in nature, but made her feel uncomfortable. She also stated “that on Sept. 11 she was walking by the coach’s classroom where he kissed her inside the classroom. Video footage of the date in question was reviewed and was consistent with the student’s statement.”
Ryan’s attorney Butch Jenkins said, “The press release which indicated that the video supported the student’s statement is simply not true. The video does not show Julius committing any illicit act.”
