The family of Steve Newsome saw some justice delivered last week when a former friend of the family pled guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death of Newsome. Michael Bowman admitted his guilt in the crime and was sentenced to 70-96 months active time in the N.C. Department of Corrections.

The relationship between Newsome and Bowman was described as that of a father/son after the Newsome and Bowman families became neighbors following the death of Bowman’s father when Bowman was young.
