David Samuel “Sammy” Greene, 67, of Asheboro, made his last cast on December 8, 2019 at his residence.

A graveside service will be held 4 p.m., Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Parsons Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery officiated by the Rev. Vanessa McIntyre and the Rev. Milton Haywood.

Born June 6, 1952 in Franklin County, he is a son of David Junior Greene of Troy and the late Betsy Holmes Greene. He retired as a supervisor after 30 plus years from Klaussner Industries and later became a truck driver for Quik Chek and Abercrombie Fuels. Sammy had a big heart for helping people and he loved his nieces and nephews. He loved to fish, and one of his last requests was to go fishing one time in his memory.

In addition to his daddy, he is survived by brother, Jeffery Blaine Greene Sr. of Troy; and sisters, Carolyn G. Rector (Bugs) of Rockingham and Deanne G. Brown (Kelsey) of Troy. He is preceded in death by his mother, Betsy Holmes Greene; sister, Teresa Ann Greene; and wife, Jeannie Diane Beane Greene.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph County, 446 Vision Dr., Asheboro, NC 27203 and Take a Kid Fishing c/o Sherrill Bumgarner, P.O. Box 644, Laurinburg, NC 28353.
