Frances Blake Pigford, 94, of Troy, died Thursday, June 6, 2019 at FirstHealth Hospice and Palliative Care, Pinehurst.

Mrs. Pigford was born December 2, 1924 in Montgomery County, daughter of the late James Frank Blake and the late Lola Merritt Blake.

Frances worked as an optometrist assistant for a local optometrist for 40 years before retiring. She was a loving, caring woman who loved her church, Love Joy United Methodist Church, of which she was a lifelong member. She loved making cathedral window quilts. She enjoyed traveling and family time, especially with her sisters. Frances was loved by all who met her.

She is survived by sons, Boyce Pigford and wife Sharon of Troy, Benny Pigford and wife Linda of Troy, and Lenny Pigford and wife Patricia of Mt. Gilead; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by husband, Manley "Tommy" Pigford and siblings, Ivy Blake, Mary Belle Atkins, Ora Atkins, Raymond Blake, Ruby Gillis and Rachael Vuncannon.

A funeral service was held Saturday, June 8 at Love Joy United Methodist Church. The Rev. Ron Scott officiated and burial followed in the church cemetery.
