1973- Troy Rotary Club was in first place in the Little League standings. Team members were Mark Byrd, Kenneth Harris, Craig Kearns, Mark Dennis, Robert Boone, Chris Jones, Billy Maness, Paul Pappendick, Richard Brown, Charles Cochran, Pat Moore, Joe Nathan Horne and Daniel Marshall. Head coach was Jim Allen.
Hilda Matos of Woodrun was believed to set a new world record for treading water after 21 hours in the Woodrun pool.
Bunky Greene hit grand slams in consecutive games, propelling Biscoe to the top of the league standings in Sandhills Little League.
1984- Heather and Holly Morton of Troy were selected for the Young Riders Equestrian team.
The first demolition derby was held at the Ag Center in Troy with Larry Parks of Troy winning. Randy Hicks of Troy was a heat winner. Others locals who participated were Woody Maness, Jimmy Gillis, Tim Gillis, David Deaton, Richard Stewart and James Hunsucker.
Alandale defeated Russmont, 9-7, to claim the Dixie Youth League championship in Troy. Team members were Billy Nelson, Mike Erdner, Steve Harris, David Martin, Jamie Parsons, Ron Thayer, Robin Lemonds, Gerald Ward, Jon Parsons, Greg Corbett, Brian Epps and Tony Scott. Coaches were James Parsons and Joe Parsons.
The Montgomery County Boys All-Star team (13-14) was named. Members included: Mark Henley, Ryan Wallace, Jerry Smith, Derrick Hinson, Brian Shields, David Wall, Allen Ingram, Terry Smith, Kevin Wallace, Chris Casey, Scott Morgan, James Ledwell, Tyrone Horne and Chuck Morrison. Coaches were Jerry Hensley, Bob Morgan and David Casey.
