Scholarship awarded

David Steed, a recent graduate of Montgomery Central High School and Montgomery Community College, received a full-ride scholarship from Pilgrim's, Inc. as a representative of the corporate office in Greely, Colorado. The ceremony for the presentation of the scholarship was held at the Pilgrim's plant in Sanford. The Pilgrim’s Tomorrow Fund scholarship was awarded based on academics, school involvement and community service. Steed graduated from Montgomery Central High School in June and will pursue a bachelor's degree in agriculture from North Carolina State University this fall. Steed is a member of the Candor Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He is the son of Joe and Deidra Steed of Candor and grandson of Winnie Steed of Candor and Carolyn W. Murphy of Southern Pines.
