While COVID-19 numbers continue to rise statewide, Montgomery County is not seeing the big increases it once was; however, the virus is still very active in the community.

The number of deaths from the virus has grown to 41 and 16 new cases of the virus were reported over a three- day time period last week and 38 cases in a seven-day time period The data change little in the way of statistics each week, only growing in numbers. There are 73 individuals currently isolated and 13 individuals who are hospitalized with the virus.

Biscoe and Candor continue to be the hot spots for the cases which total 1,366 since the data started being collected.

During last week’s Board of Health and Human Services meeting, Montgomery County Health Director Mary Perez-Baldwin reported that CVS and Walgreens have been contracted to give residents in nursing homes vaccines for the flu.
