Man charged in killing of five beagles

JERRY RILLO

Three friends, who share a love for rabbit hunting, were shocked and angry to see several of the beagles they hunt with shot while chasing a rabbit on their property.

Troy Fire Chief Joe Huntley said it was the second rabbit of the day that the dogs had chased and all of a sudden he, along with his son Joe Joe and friend David Creger, heard gunfire. Huntley said the man, Jerry Rillo, fired between 12-15 shots, killing five of the dogs. Creger who was close by and realized what was happening, yelled at the man to stop shooting, but it was too late.
