The chairman of the Republican Party, Deanne Brown, is asking for an investigation regarding an “election irregularity” that was reported to the board on the day of the election, November 2. Brown filed the request for an investigation on November 9.
Brown’s letter to the board reads in part, “As I am sure you are aware, an election irregularity took place at the Mt. Gilead municipal precinct on November 2, 2021. This ‘irregularity’ is an affront to election integrity and all that a free and fair election process was created to uphold. I believe I speak for all of us when I say that our right to vote is our most precious form of equality. Knowing that our vote counts just as much as anyone else’s, regardless of power or privilege, is an inalienable right that we cannot afford to take for granted.
