Troy Library Comic Con 2019
The Montgomery County Library is proud to announce this year’s Troy Library Comic Con will be Saturday, October 26 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
The guest of honor this year is Marcus Hamilton, the cartoonist who draws the Dennis the Menace comic strip. Other guests include writers and artists from all around the state. There will be a mini-concert by Emily Wiggins and ghost stories by Lacy Homola, as well as readings from local authors Cheralyn Lambeth, Trudy Haywood Saunders and Aaron Weaver.
This year’s show boasts a personal appearance by The Flash (courtesy of WCCB, the Charlotte CW affiliate); The Amazing Spider-Man; The Finest, a GI Joe cosplay group; Guardians of the Carolinas, a Guardians of the Galaxy fan club and a Spider-Man bouncy house for the kids. There is also a rumor that Bigfoot might be making an appearance as well.
This event is free to the public and we encourage families to come in costumes as the library will be giving out candy and holding two costume contests, one for children up to age 12 and then for young adults and adults 13 and above. Other contests throughout the day include a coloring contest, a design a superhero or monster contest and a monster hunt. There will also be two superhero trivia contests, again one for children up to age 12 and another young adults and adult age 13 and above.
Many of the prizes for the various contests as well as the comic books that will be given out to attendees have been donated from comic book shops in North Carolina and Virginia, as well as individuals who simply share a love of literacy and who want to see the next generation develops a healthy love of reading.
