Third person dies from COVID-19

A third person has died from the coronavirus COVID-19 in Montgomery County. All three deaths have been residents on the east side of the county, with the third death’s occurring Monday night.

Since March 21, when the first case was reported locally, the number of reported cases has risen each week with the county currently at 45 cases, 26 of which remain active and three deaths. The majority of the cases have impacted residents between the ages of 25-49, followed by the 50-64 age croup. The 0-17 age group has been impacted the least. Males have been impacted more than females; however, only by 6% more.

The Biscoe area appears to be the hot spot in the county for reported cases, which currently stand at 10, followed by Star and Candor with six cases each. Eldorado, Ophir and Wadeville are the only areas that do not have a reported case of the virus, according to the local health departments numbers.
