Candor
Ann Blake Sasser, 71, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2023, at FirstHealth Hospice & Palliative Care in West End.
A funeral service was held Saturday, March 4, 2023, 3 p.m., at Blackwood Chapel Baptist Church in Candor, officiated by Rev. Billy Glover and Tony Sedberry. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Born June 5, 1951, in Montgomery County, she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Opal Frick Blake. Ann was a beautiful woman who stood strong with her faith in God. She loved her family and stood by them all. She loved gardening, especially flowers, crossword puzzles and shopping. She enjoyed nature, Elvis tunes and the word of God. She was humble and made sure she always had something to give to the ones she loved whether it was a listening ear, or to bring them into her home to house them. Ann’s heart was very big and pure. She was a safe place for her family. She had a big, beautiful smile and always tried to look at the brighter side of things. She was the family’s protector.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Shue of Troy; son, Rodney Sasser of Troy; brothers, Alvin Blake and Kent Blake; sisters, Carol Wright and Linda Lamanski; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everette “Bill” Sasser; brothers, James Blake, Junior Blake, Max Blake and Frank Blake; and sisters, Pauline McCormick, Cathy Poole, Betty Ernst and Maxine Blake.
