Join the Uwharrie Trailblazers for a walk to the historic Russell mine, a presentation by Gary Freeze, noted historian of the Uwharries, and the annual meeting and chili lunch. You can also just come for lunch if that suits your schedule.

Hike-  Russell Mine on nearby Coggins Mill Rd.  participants will tour this old mine site with numerous old foundations, shafts, ect.  More Here


Meet at Ophir Community Building at 9 a.m. and carpool over due to limited parking.  Bring a pair of extra shoes due to creek crossing.   

Lunch- Convene back at 11:30 a.m. and serve lunch.  Chili provided.  Bring a side or dessert, if you wish.  You can kick a few dollars to help cover the cost as well.
